Hopkins IX Golf Performance – 10,000 sq ft Indoor Short Game Arena

The Hopkins IX Philosophy

Mastery in golf is found within the details. At Hopkins IX, we focus on the nine points of impact that define elite performance, providing a sophisticated, year-round environment designed for the complete development of your game.

Within our Advanced IX Bays and across the expansive Short Game Gauntlet—featuring tour-spec synthetic greens and authentic sand bunkers—we provide the technology, the territory, and the professional expertise to forge a superior game. By integrating elite coaching, custom club fitting, and advanced ball-flight analytics, we ensure every aspect of your play is refined under one roof with tour-level consistency.

We do more than offer a place to practice; we establish a new standard for excellence in every shot. Whether you are a dedicated amateur or a competitive player, our mission is direct: deliver measurable improvement with every visit.

“We don’t just provide a place to play; we define the standard for excellence in every shot.”

The Vision Behind Hopkins IX

Golf became a passion in my late teens, and as a self-taught player, I broke 80 within just two years. But as life moved forward—career, marriage, and raising amazing children—my time on the course diminished until I was the ‘once-a-year scramble guy.’ In 2025, with our children nearing college, I decided to reclaim my game. I quickly realized that true performance isn’t found by just hitting balls, but in the technical shots that actually lower scores—bunker play, precision chipping, and consistent putting.

Recognizing the constraints of cold weather and a shortened golf season, I built Hopkins IX to be the year-round home for the dedicated golfer—a facility designed for intentional mastery, not just practice.

Mark Spruill

Lead Instructor & PGA Associate

Mark Spruill is a golf coach and club fitter from Morgantown, West Virginia. He has a true passion for helping golfers of all ages and skill levels play their best and enjoy the game more. Over the past five years, Mark has coached everyone from young beginners and competitive juniors to adults and seniors who just want to keep getting better.

He didn’t start playing until he was 14, so he knows what it’s like to catch the golf "bug" — and he hasn’t lost that spark since. As a player, Mark has spent 11 years competing in events like the West Virginia State High School Championships and the West Virginia State Open, and he’s also passed the PGA Playing Ability Test. Those experiences have helped shape his coaching style and how he connects with his students.

Mark is currently working through the PGA Associate Program toward his Class A Membership while continuing to grow as both a player and a coach. He’s also spent time working and caddying at private and public courses in West Virginia and Florida, gaining a lot of insight into different golfers and how they approach the game.

Through education from Titleist University, Mizuno, and PING fitting programs, Mark helps golfers find equipment that fits their swing and goals. More than anything, he loves seeing players improve, build confidence, and have fun — because that’s what golf is all about.
